The investigation of influences of the grinding method on the crystal samples of compound 1 reveals that the coercivity increases from ∼2.5 Oe to 44.0 Oe upon a grinding treatment for 180 minutes. The results demonstrate that compound 1 can vary from a soft magnet to a hard magnet simply by manually grinding the crystal samples to the nanoscale.

Keep ReadingAbstract: The work aims to design a dual magnetic pole grinding method to solve the problem of uneven pressure and repeated adjustment of the gap in the process of plane magnetic particle grinding. Firstly, the mechanism of dual magnetic pole grinding method and the force of a single abrasive particle in grinding area were analyzed, in order to find the main factors that affected …
Keep ReadingTo overcome these problems, a special element named 'float' was introduced by Umehara and Kato [5] lo increase the grinding force and improve the shape accuracy. As a result, the combination of magnetic fluid, a float, abrasive grains, and magnetic field showed to form a new practical grindin method named 'Magnetic Fluid Grinding."
